Ansel Adams

         I really like the way the water looks in this picture. The contrast is really good, the trees are dark and the water is bright. You can see the mist coming off from the waterfall.
       Ansel Adams was born Feb. 20 1902 in San Francisco. His family had a history of being wealthy but because of the poor financial state in 1907, they had troubles with money from then on. Because of his awkward looking nose from when he broke it in the earthquake of 1906, he had trouble fitting in at school. He was diagnosed as hyperactive and they seem to think that he had dyslexia; so because of his problems, his father tutored him at school. Eventually Ansel was put in private school.
       When Adams was 12 years old, he taught himself to play piano and read music. Instead of formal schooling, he starting taking piano lessons. For the next dozen years he it was his primary occupation and he intended it to be his profession in 1920. He loved nature and started taking pictures of it and joined the Sierra Club.
        In 1927 his first fully visualized photographed was create, as you can see below.

       For a while he was a commercial photographer for clients such as Yosemite concessionaire, the National Park Service, Kodak, Zeiss, IBM, AT&T, a small women's college, a dried fruit company, Life, Fortune, and Arizona Highways magazine but was struggling financially.
